Carbon nanotubes and metal nanowires were formed in situ during the electrolysis of graphite cathode using LiCl, LiOH and LiCl/SnCl 2 melts as electrolyte, respectively. The structure and morphology were characterized by TEM, XRD and EDS analyses.
