A mixture of LaBr?3 and Al?2O?3 is formed by the direct reaction of La?2O?3 with Al powder and Br?2. AlBr?3 is also formed with excess amount of Al and Br?2. Vapor complex LaAl?3Br??12? forms at high temperature.
